I'm so pretty...

It's amazing how much she has changed in just 48 hours. She dropped some birth weight so she's a little smaller now, and her skin is starting to smooth out and her coloring is looking really good. And Matt swears her hair is already longer. HA HA But her sweet personality is already coming out and we are starting to pick up on her cute little traits. Like her innocent little girly squeal she does right before she gets really upset about something. I love it! And how she loves to sleep with her hands up by her head. And her obsession with sucking her hand - she even has a small blistered area on the front side where the doctors think she was sucking on it so much in the womb!

Abby came screaming into the world on November 13, 2009 at 7:49pm - weighing in at 8 lbs exactly and 20 inches long! She has a FULL head of dark brown hair, and as of now her eyes are blue.

We had a little unexpected twist on her birthday in that even though we were induced that morning, we found out almost exactly 12 hours later that she would have to be delivered via c-section. Unfortunately she was just a little too big for my body and she was sitting in a type of "transverse" position - so she was a bit turned to the side and couldn't get her little head down where it was supposed to be. So a quick decision was made at around 7:00pm or so and after being prepped and rolled to an OR, she was born not long after. It's amazing how quickly everything moved and how everyone just went to work.

I won't lie and say it was easy...the c-section really freaked me out. I have never had major surgery like that before - and to be awake the whole time was a very surreal feeling. The doctors and nurses are so amazing though - so I wasn't worried about our health at least. But I'm so very glad it's all over. Now the healing part starts, but seeing Abby makes it all OK. She's so healthy and alert and trying so hard to figure out this world already. Matt and I are already so in love with her!!!

And did I mention how pretty she is. :) The night nurse last night said even one of the little boy newborns in the nursery stared at her when she was there. That's my girl.

Today is the day!

We are here at the hospital and are in waiting mode. I'm all hooked up to machines and we are slowly inducing, but not much happening just yet. It's going to be a long day. :) But the weather is beautiful and I think it's a great day to have a baby!!

We just can't wait to meet her!

Man Shower!

Matt's coworkers surprised him yesterday with a "Baby Man Shower"! I was so happy they did this! He finally got to experience what it's like to have all eyes on you and be the center of attention for once. :)

And these pictures are hysterical.

Baby toy!

Baby onesies! Not sure why the crazy face... :)

He looks like he's all alone in this room...!

2 week countdown!

We are on the two week countdown so I decided to post a few pictures since I'm pretty much at the point of not being able to get any larger. :) At least I hope.....

Here I am at 38 weeks...

*If you saw this post yesterday, yes - I had different pictures. But they were really bad, so I changed them!*

Friday the 13th?

Today was my weekly doctor visit and all went good. I'm dilated now to 2 cm so we are still going down the right path.

The biggest news is that we decided to schedule a date to induce (if we end up needing to). I needed to have a game plan in place with my company and also my doctor is going to be out for a few days the week after my due date. So it just made sense all around to set a date.

So - unless Baby G decides to show her pretty little face early, we will be inducing on...

FRIDAY the 13TH!

(Teri I know you'll like that!)

Do you think she will come early? ------> vote on the poll!

Last baby shower

Today was my last baby shower and it was given by my coworkers. We got a lot of little stuff that we still needed, so it was great!

Look at this homemade cake - made by my boss. She is obviously excellent at baking.

Here are a couple more pictures as well.

Decorations on the whiteboard....classic.

This is a fleece blanket made by another very talented coworker. It's really soft and will be great during the winter.

Nursery update!

Everything in the nursery is finally coming together! So I thought I'd post a few pictures of it. We still don't have any wall decor (some of which will depend on her name, which we still don't have picked out!). And the shelves are empty, but for the most part everything else is done!

We decided not to use the bumper in the crib just yet. The quilt that you see draped on the back of the crib matches our pattern.

Bare walls here too - still working on decor ideas! You can see the cute little bouncy chair from Grandma Heign next to our glider.

And these are just a couple pictures of our newest baby editions that we love!

The best. stroller. ever. Our Bob Revolution (we have the car seat attached to it in this picture).

Not baby related - but to cute not to post

Lacey (Teri's dog/baby) was invited to a Halloween party last night at a very swanky hotel in Dallas. She attended as a Hula Girl and was even captured on video and made a cameo on TV! Isn't she too cute!

Good doctor's appointment today!

Today I had my routine weekly doctor visit, but we also got to do our last sonogram to check the position of the baby!

Here are a few things we learned:

1. The sonogram tech confirmed one last time for us that the baby is indeed "still" a girl. :)

2. Her estimated weight today was 6 lbs, 13 ounces. Remember these are purely estimates and they could be off a pound or more. But she could potentially be up to 8.5 lbs...yikes!

3. I'm dilated to about 1 cm - not that it really means anything at this point - but at least we are moving in the right direction.

4. Everything looks good with her vital organs, she's practice breathing (which we got to see on the sonogram), and she appears to be totally healthy!

Here are a couple snapshots that the sonogram tech gave us. She has a perfect little round nose.

I think she may be trying to hold her breath here....haha
