Daycare Diaries...Part 1

Watching the babies on the daycare video is better than watching soap operas. Each week brings on new and exciting adventures for her. And lots of laughs from Mommy and Daddy and anyone else watching.

Abby has a boyfriend. I'm not sure she really likes him back...but man, does he really LOVE her. His name is Connor and he loves to show off for Abby.

Last week, I watched him crawl from one side of the room to the other to get close to her (hand on her leg and all). The teacher came over and put him back on the other side.

He again crawled all the way over to her. Only be be picked up by another teacher and put back across the room. But this time the teacher even went so far as to wrap a Boppy pillow around him to try to keep him contained.

Did it matter that the Boppy pillow was as big as him? Or wrapped around him where he couldn't get out of it? Of course not. He was going to get back to Abby...even if he had to drag that pillow. Which of course, he did. All the way across the room with him.

It was awesome. I'm sure his Daddy was quite proud. And I know Matt was quite upset. :)

Prune Juice...FAIL

Abby is typically very....er, "regular" when it comes to her diaper business. But this past week she's been skipping days which is concerning to us. So her doctor recommended we try a little prune juice mixed with little bit of water to see if we can get things moving. So I got two different types - one regular prune juice, and one "baby" apple/prune juice. I first tried to give her some on Saturday morning. And how did it go?

FAIL.

She outright refused it. Got one taste and gave me a horrible "yuck Mommy" face. So I tried to get smart and mix it in with an ounce of formula. And how did this go?

FAIL.

She wasn't having any bit of it. So then I tried to get even more brilliant and put the juice mix in a medicine dropper and "force" her to take it. I'm pretty sure of the 2 ounces I tried to feed her...1.75 ounces she spit out on her bib. UGH.

Today, we did finally successfully get a teaspoon down her by adding it to her full bottle.

That girl is smart. And knows what she likes and doesn't like. Oh boy.

Bluebonnets!

It's a beautiful day in Austin today - so we decided to get Abby out and snap a few bluebonnet pictures. We have this awesome patch over by our house that was perfect. She was a little bit too interested in the flowers...so much so that she couldn't really concentrate on us or the camera. And our little drama queen was getting fussy anytime the sun hit her little eyes. :) But I think we still got a couple good ones. And yes, I know she needs a haircut!

Once you go Mac...

Good thing I can get Apple discounts.

Our little Picasso

Abby's first painting. We are just so, so proud and I cannot wait to hang it on our fridge tonight!!

Raspberries and tummy sleeping?!?

My girl is getting so big. It used to be she hated tummy time. But now that she is sleeping through the night, when I go to check on her in the wee morning hours (I just can't help myself!) - or when we go to wake her up in the morning - she's on her tummy with her hands curled up under her face. Part of me loves it because she looks so cute and comfy...the other part of me freaks out when I see it thinking she is going to suffocate. Oh the life of a parent. And I have been known, on occasion, to flip her back over on her back. Good thing she's a heavy sleeper and it doesn't even phase her!

The funny part of it all though, is that sometimes when she's on her tummy in the mornings she's just chatting away. I'm not sure if she's talking to her hands - or the bed sheet - or just to her imaginary friend, but she will chat and chat and chat until we say something to her. Then that is when we get those awesome morning smiles. :)

She has also figured out how to blow raspberries. You know that noise you can make with your lips/tongue which also lets you blow spit everywhere?!? And her most favorite time to do it is either during said tummy time in the mornings, or when Mommy is trying to give her liquid medicine. I'm pretty sure she thinks it's super funny to mash her lips together and blow raspberries when I'm trying to pry them open to get a medicine dropper in there.

I have a feeling we are going to have our hands full with her as she starts to grow up!

Talking with Daddy

Abby and Matt were having a really serious conversation yesterday and I happened to catch it all on video. ;)

Log rolling and talking...

HAPPY EASTER!

Today our Country Club and HOA had an Easter "Egg-stravaganza". They had a petting zoo, blow up slide, face painting, egg hunts, food...the works. It was KID mania. And total Suburbia. :) But it was really fun and Abby loved being outside and watching all the kids running around. The weather is beautiful - it's sunny and 80 degrees. We walked from our house to the club and it was perfect!

And of course - we had to snap some photos of Abby with the Easter Bunny! We couldn't really get her to look at us. She was so interested in this large white fluffy thing...and wanting to put the large white fluffy hand in her mouth...that she couldn't focus on us or the camera. haha

I'm a big girl now!

Abby is eagerly trying to learn to sit up all by herself, so we bought a Boppy pillow to give her a little support (and a soft place to fall...). She's been "practicing" sitting up a lot. Even today when I tried to put her in the car seat she much preferred to sit up than to lay back and let me buckle her in. It's really cute watching her each day. Seems each week brings a new skill for her to master.

I tired to upload a video of her sitting on the Boppy beside me on the couch, but for some reason blogger won't let me. So I put it on YouTube!
