Peek-a-boo!

Abby loves to play peek-a-boo and now has a friend that loves it just as much!  Ethan and her play with the play mailbox all day long.  He says "Abby, Abby, Abby" until she looks through the box at him...then they both break out in big giggles.  It's SO cute!!  I tried to get a better picture, but they were laughing so much I had to just take the best shot I could.

Kitty kisses...

The Louvre - in Cedar Park, TX

Abby's daycare has a teaching plan in which they use all the senses during the week.  Most of the time they are doing some sort of craft on the "sensory table".  Check out our wall of art!  This is our collection we've started since we brought home that first painting when she was just 4 months old.  We even have more artwork stored as we are running out of room!

We have everything from finger-paint, painting with a brush, painting with pudding, painting with ice, chalk, markers, pens...you name it, they've done it!  I've been told that she much prefers using a paint brush or marker as not to get her little hands dirty...stinker.

"Diaper"

For a couple weeks now, Abby has been telling us when she has a dirty diaper.  She says "diaper" and pats her bottom.  She only does it when it's dirty...not when it's just wet.  So I think this means one of two things:  1) she's going to be really easy to potty train or 2) she's going to be really HARD to potty train. I know it's way to early to even be thinking about it.  But it does make me wonder!

Sign language and "bump"

Abby's really starting to learn some of the sign language they are teaching her at daycare.  But the sign she uses the most is "more".  And she's really good at it!!  Here is a quick video I tried to take while also holding her.  She's telling me the sign for "more", while trying to point me to what she wants...

One of her classmates, a boy named Ethan, likes to do the "fist bump".  I guess his momma's (yes, plural) taught him that...but he does it all.the.time.  Every parent that comes to get their child knows to do it and now....Abby is doing it!!

Big girl dinner

Abby's teachers told me that at school, they have just been giving Abby a bowl of food and spoons, and that she seems to like it much better than better than someone trying to feed her (and she finishes her meal).  And since we have so many feeding issues with her, I thought we might as well try it here for consistency.

While she didn't eat the whole thing - I think this is a good start!!!

Snow!!

We finally got some snow today and Matt and I are both working from home this morning.  So we took the opportunity to snap a few pictures of Abby!!

And if you remember, we also got a bit of snow last February also.  Feb 2010 Snow

Bread

We are still having some struggles with Abby and food.  She just prefers not to eat it.  Or if she does, it's just crackers and yogurt.  Here lately she won't even take her jar food anymore...

But she loves bread.  Plain, wheat, not even toasted bread.  She won't eat mac & cheese but she will eat wheat bread...plain!?!?

Daycare Diaries...Part 6

Abby has a best friend.

There is a little girl named Alyssa in Abby's daycare class.  And over the last couple of weeks they've really began to become great friends.  To the point of hugging and giving kisses to each other!!  Their teacher, Mrs. Tina, took a picture of the cute-ness (they now sit by each other at the table for every meal), and I hope to get a copy of it to post here.

Alyssa is over a year old but is a bit behind on walking due to hip dysplasia at birth. So Abby likes to bring her toys throughout the day and really just makes sure she's taken care of.  My girl has such a big heart!!!
