Pigtails??!!

Matt picked Abby up from daycare today, and this is what he found!! Her first pigtails. That girl has some hair!

Bad Daddy

We knew it would happen. We were warned by all the baby books, our friends, and even our Pediatrician. But it was still just as traumatic as I thought it would be.

Matt clipped Abby's finger while trying to clip her nails. :(

Poor girl jumped so hard and immediately went into the scream (this is her special "uber loud, pissed off, I'm going to make you feel awful scream).

I'm just glad it was Matt that did it first.

Giggles!

Abby has started giggling!

I've been trying to capture it on video - but it's been quite a task. We did get some little ones out of her a few nights ago. She's really ticklish under her arms!

Enjoy!

Three Months Old!

Abby is 3 months old today! Can you believe it? It's already been 3 whole months?

She has finally found her feet and really likes to stare at them when moving them up and down. It takes her full concentration - so it must be really cool! Today she started really grabbing at them - therefore I know it's only a matter of time before they end up in her mouth. :)

Unfortunately this hasn't been the best week for us. Abby started to sound really congested on Sunday so we took her to the doctor and she tested positive for RSV. It's basically like a really bad cold/lower respiratory infection type of thing. We've been struggling with it all week and thankfully Matt's Mom was able to come down and help. But I think we hit our peak and are on the road to recovery. We know the congestion and coughing will last for a couple more weeks - but we hope she at least feels a little better!

And since we were at the doctor's office they weighed her and she was a big 12 lbs 4 oz! She's our big girl!

Snowing in Dallas!

Here in Austin we are just getting some sleet and not much of anything else. I was really hoping we'd get some nice snow and get to take some cute family pictures of the craziness. But, alas, it doesn't look like we'll get much more than some rain today.

Dallas, however, has got a nice little blanket going on. I'm almost jealous. I mean - it's not everyday that you get to see snow like this in North/Central Texas!

Here are some pictures of my sister's dog, Haley, loving this weather!

Mr. Mom - and so good at it

We found out last week that a stomach bug was going around Austin and at Abby's daycare. She seemed fine but more than half of the other babies were out sick. So we took her home on Friday and didn't think much of it after that. Then WHAM - yesterday when I got to work I knew I wasn't feeling so good. So I made a doctor's appointment for myself and lo and behold I have an awful case of this bug. I was so very sick yesterday. I haven't been sick like that in years. Therefore I was sent to our guest room in our house for the rest of they day and night to hopefully not pass this to Matt or Abby and that's when Matt became "Mr. Mom".

He just jumped right in and took care of Abby the whole day, gave her a bath last night, got her to bed, feed her in the middle of the night, and got her up and dressed this morning and they are currently at the Pediatrician's office getting her checked out (she has a little cough). All while I just had to watch from afar!! He is SUCH a good Dad. Abby is so lucky. I'm so lucky!

Send all your healthy thoughts our way!

Heavy Heart

I officially go back to work this Friday, Feb 5. So today I brought Abby to her new daycare for a trial run. I got to hang out with her and her new teachers and talk to them about her personality and basically walk them through her typical day. The plan is to take her up there for a couple more hours each day until I have to leave her all day on Friday.

Leaving her just for an hour today was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

I know she will be fine. We choose an incredible daycare and were fortunate enough to be able to get her in (we got on the waiting list back in August!). But just the thought of leaving her all day for someone else to take care of breaks my heart. I dread Friday!!!

But she did really good. She was very interested in the other babies and all the toys. She also napped a couple times which is great considering there were a couple SCREAMING babies. :) One of the little girls is being moved up to the next classroom and they are bringing in a new 6-week old boy to take her place. So Abby will be one of only two girls in the class of six babies! She's going to have so many boyfriends!!

Wall Letters!

The nursery wall letters finally arrived!! We had them hand painted to match our bedding and it took 9 weeks to get to us. I think they look great and really fill up that big wall by her crib! Now we just have one more wall to decorate and we'll be officially finished with her room. She may be 6 months old - but by golly we'll get it done. :)

Yes - this post is about a vacuum!

I love my Roomba!!

We celebrated Christmas with my family a little late this year. We wanted to wait until Abby passed her 2 month mark (per our Pediatrician's instruction) before we traveled since we're in the middle of flu season and whooping cough season. So this past weekend was her first road trip to Ennis. She did so good...too good really. I felt like someone took our baby and replaced her with a good impostor. :)

Now the real reason for this post. My Roomba. I asked for this magical vacuum cleaner not expecting to get it...but my Grandparents surprised me. And I love it. I really do. Today Abby was a little fussy (i.e. needy) so I spent half the day carrying her around and the other half feeding/bathing/changing, etc. So there is really no time for me to clean our house.

Cue the Roomba.

This amazing little guy just takes off on his own with a push of a button and sweeps the house without a single complaint. All the little crumbs and cat hair and just dirty junk on the floors disappeared like magic. It was beautiful. I'm so proud of my little robot.
