Tummy sleeping

Swing batter, batter...

We went to Abby's first baseball game last night! Southwest Airlines rented out the pool area of the Round Rock Express ballpark and invited my whole department from work. It was so much fun...after Abby woke up. :) She slept through half of it, but that's OK!

Conversation with a cat

Last night I was feeding Abby on the living room couch when Shelby decided to join us. Once the cat was within sight - the bottle meant nothing to Abby. She sat up on my lap, pushed the bottle away, and proceeded to have a long conversation with the cat. I don't know what she was telling her, but she was very serious about it. And Shelby just listened.

I finally just gave up on the feeding and let her talk her little heart out. So cute.

Daycare Diaries...Part 3

Babies are boring.

I went to pick Abby up from daycare yesterday and her teacher told me that throughout the day now, they have to bring over some of the older babies from Room 2 to play with Abby. They sit them down right in front of her and she just happily plays with them.

If she is stuck in the room with the younger babies...she's bored, mad and fussy. :)

Her teacher said "I'm pretty sure she thinks the younger babies are just plain boring...!"

The funny thing is - they are all relatively the same age. Abby is the oldest in her class now, but the next in line is only 9 days younger! But that one is not sitting up yet on her own...nor are any of the others...so I guess they aren't as entertaining as the bigger ones are.

HA HA HA

Should we be worried?

This is what Abby's new thing is. And each day she's getting stronger and can get herself up even more. I took this video a couple days ago...and as I type this now, she's actually on her knees and elbows. Oh my. Look out world...her she comes!

No bananas!

That girl. We thought for sure bananas would do the trick and get her interested in solids. She outright refused it. Maybe by the time she's 13 we'll have her on something other than a bottle... *sigh*

Here comes the teeth!

Abby is finally getting her first tooth! We noticed the crankiness this weekend and after a near impossible feat of trying to look inside her mouth...there it was. The beginning of that first little tooth trying to make it's way out. Watching her move her lips/mouth/tongue around it all sorts of funny ways is quite entertaining really. Luckily, aside from the extra fussy/must be held/I don't really feel good attitude during the day...she is still sleeping through the night.

But in some ways it's almost bittersweet. It means she's growing up and isn't going to give me those toothless morning smiles much longer! :(

I tried to get a picture of the little thing...and even out of the 100 I took, there isn't a single one of them that you can see it.

*EDIT - I checked on Abby's tooth today at lunch...and she has not one but TWO bottom teeth poking through!*

Oatmeal...gag me

Abby is a little more than 5 months old now. Pediatricians recommend starting solids between 4-6 months. My Pediatrician likes to wait until 6 months...but Matt really wanted to try some baby oatmeal just to see what she would do. I keep saying I don't think she's ready...but he thought for sure it was time.

You decide for yourself.... (and no, she wasn't really choking...drama queen)

I'm a leaving, on a jet plane...

I'm sitting at the Austin airport waiting for my flight. Tonight will be my first night away from Abby. I'll be out of town doing an Apple event until Friday. It's going to be a long week. My heart is heavy. :(

I've never appreciated modern technology so much before now. Between the video cameras at daycare, and video iChat using our Apple computers, I'll get to see my girl all week long...I wonder if she will be confused as to why Mommy is in a box?
