Austin Zoo

On Saturday we decided to go to the Austin Zoo!  It's not like the Dallas or Ft. Worth Zoo...it's very small, and it's an animal rescue zoo, but still really fun for little kids.  And Abby of course loved it!

In true Guggenheim fashion, we forgot our camera.  I did, however, get a few pictures on our iPhones.  We had such a good day seeing all the animals, then going over to the Hill Country Galleria to walk around and have happy hour at Iron Cactus.  And Abby had a blast throwing everything in her reach on the ground - crayons, french fries, sugar packets, chips, Cherrios....*sigh*

Animal Sounds

Abby knows so many animal sounds it blows my mind.  Her little brain is like a sponge, tell her something once and she doesn't forget it.  I tried several times over the last few weeks to get a good video of her going through each sound, but she gets really camera shy and it's next to impossible.  The best times I get from her are on our drive home from school...she loves to practice.

Her most favorite sound by far is the cat.  She has mastered the "meow" sound and crawls on the floor after the cat "meowing" every day.  Just mention the word cat, and she will meow and meow.

Here is the best video I got of her...hopefully I'll get something better soon.

Spicegirl

Abby's teacher at school brings different things from her home up to class any given week.  And the times when she brings empty spice jars for the kids to smell...Abby is first in line!  I don't know what it is about spices, but she loves smelling them.

I shot this video a few days ago after I picked her up from school.  She just couldn't get enough of them and literally smelled/played with them for 45 minutes!

The newest little Goodwins

I had another event this past week in San Jose, and Matt flew out to meet me for the weekend.  Nana and Papa stayed back in Austin to keep Abby.   We spent all day on Saturday going to winery's with Lindsey, Neils and the newest little Goodwin twins - Patrick & Finn.  Lindsey's mom watched Calan so that we could all go and enjoy the lazy Saturday.  You would think having two 1-month old's with us would be a challenge...but those boys were the most amazing, quite, content, happy, and sleepy babies I've ever seen.  Matt and I had visions of Abby when she was a month old...screaming, non-stop and having to be walked around for hours on end.  These two were little angels.  I think we heard one small cry the ENTIRE day.  And that was only during a diaper change.  Amazing!

I'm bummed we didn't take more pictures.  But so glad we finally got the chance to make it out for a visit!

Play, play, play

I picked up Abby early from school today and since the sun had come up (though a bit windy) they were enjoying some outside time.  She was so excited when I got there, she was showing off every toy they had!  That crazy girl would run from one toy to the next in a matter of seconds.  By the time we left, she was huffing and puffing!

And she's off!

She's a crazy rocker!

Dancing!

Abby loves to dance.  LOVES it.  This morning after I dropped her off at daycare her teacher turned on the music and it was like a jr. high school dance. :)  I was laughing so hard I could barely get my phone out to take pictures.  They are a bit blurry since they really were dancing...but still so cute.

Learning Tower!

Matt and I started this little project of building Abby a learning tower for us to use in the kitchen with her about 3 weeks ago.  It really only takes about 4 hours...but we were doing it in pieces.  And then I went to Chicago.  And then I went to Toronto (for a whole week!).  Therefore, after much delay, we FINALLY finished it tonight!!!  And she loves it!  It puts her right at the level for her to see over the counter and "help" cook, or play, or eat, or whatever she wants to do.   What do you think?

Lollipop

Grandpa Heign is in town this weekend and he brought Abby a big o' lollipop!  She, of course, loves it!  That girl got her Daddy's sweet tooth...so much so that I've had to start regulating her "sugar" intake. :)

Sidewalk chalk

I grabbed some cheap $1 sidewalk chalk while at the store the other day, and Abby loves it!  She is so intent on getting every single color out and using it.  She's also very intent on playing with them for hours and throws her famous "lay on stomach while kicking and yelling" fit when I try to make her come in.  It's awesome.
