Update to "Things my sweet little guy likes to put in his mouth"!

Last week was Blake's follow up appointment at the ENT.  While there, I just happened to pull his pacifier out of his mouth before the appointment and noticed something black inside his mouth.  After much fishing around...I pulled out a screw.  A SCREW!  I figured it out later it was from my sunglasses that he got a hold of and just "pocketed" the screw in his lip.  (Those sunglasses have since been trashed!)

Then, on Friday he had a really rough night.  He was crying/moaning on and off every hour.  Finally around 1:30am I went in just to see if I could rock him and help to settle him down (I thought he was just teething).  I grabbed the Orajel to put on his gums hoping that would make him feel better.  While I was putting in on I felt a sharp poke on my finger.  It was pitch black in his room and I ended up turning the light on to see what the heck that was.  And low and behold...a STAPLE.  We still have no idea where he got that from but I guess he decided to just "pocket" that in his lip that night too.

This kid is definitely keeping us on our toes!!!!

The Queen

A couple nights ago we were all in Abby's room getting her dressed for bed after baths.  Blake walked over and got her little seat from the corner of her room and brought it to her.  She sat down and he got the brush out for her hair!!  I think he's seen us do the routine enough that he knows what comes next. :)

Now we just need to start teaching him how to load the dishwasher and washing machine.

Crazy kids!

These kids love this tunnel and love playing together!  Blake is just at the age where he's starting to be able to keep up with Abby.  I sure hope they will always be best friends!

Dance Time!

Abby and Blake love to dance.  LOVE to dance.  So we've been doing it often...even Nana and Papa got roped in last weekend!  I took these videos this morning. They were so cute, I couldn't narrow it down to just posting one!  Make sure to go to the blog so you can see them all. :)

Maybe the next FlyGirl?  Um, yeah.

Another day, another surgery

We are crossing our fingers that we are officially on the downside of the "sick and can't get over it" hill we've been on the past two months.  Today was Abby's turn to get more ear tubes (her last set was at age 6 months and fell out maybe a year later) and also her adenoids removed.  She was so brave and really only seemed scared a couple times before the procedure.  I was so proud of her!

Once they brought her back out, she was out of it for a while but once she came around, she was back to super happy Abby.  The only thing that bothered her the most was the spot where they put the IV in her little hand.  She will be milking that wound for a while I have a feeling.

Hospital

Abby had another rough weekend.  On Friday evening she started coughing really bad and couldn't breathe well, and we could hear her wheezing.  So after calling our on-call pediatrician, we were instructed to go into the Dell Children's ER.  This happened at 11:30pm at night....by 4:30am after not responding to 3 hours worth of breathing treatments, she was admitted to the hospital on the intermediary floor (not ICU, but not a regular room either).

Fortunately by the next morning she started coming around and the treatments were working.  Her lungs sounded good, so they decided to discharge us with an inhaler to use for the next 24 hours.  Her diagnoses after x-rays and evaluations was an asthmatic attack.  She does not have asthma, at least not yet.  If this happens again, she will be classified as officially having asthma...but we are hoping this was a one time thing caused by our crazy weather this year  (80 one day, 30 and ice the next) and the bad allergy season.

My poor sweet girl.

Abby in her hospital bed with all the wires and monitors hooked up (she was not a fan!).  It's really hard to keep a 4 year old confined to a bed for an extended amount of time too!

Sweet girl doing a breathing treatment.  She did this for 3 hours straight before being admitted. Such a trooper. :(

Blake the Mouth Monster

Here are the items I've removed from my sweet little baby's mouth in the last couple of weeks:

1. Fake Dreidel game coins
2. Quarter
3. Penny (at the same time as the quarter actually)
4. Various lids/caps from Abby's toys in her room
5. Cat food
6. The door stopper. (Actually - he was laying on the marble floor sucking the door stopper.  Like a pacifier??!!)
7. A mouth full of black and white cat hair (after he bit our cat, who didn't seem to mind at all)
8. Rocks/leaves from outside
9. Pink domino

Wow.  I think he's making up for the fact that we never had to deal with any of this when his sister was a baby!!!

Tubes for Blake

We were able to get into the ENT last week after my crazy 3x per day calling to check on cancellations. Our Feb 27 appointment went to Feb 18, and then Feb 11 and finally Feb 5!  We saw the doctor on Wednesday and immediately scheduled his surgery to get ear tubes today (Monday).  I sure hope this helps to alleviate all these infections he's had since Christmas.

The facility doesn't allow photos inside the building like they did for Abby, so I took this one once we got home (after his nap of course) and you can see my Superman is already feeling pretty good!
